So, you all know the Golden Pavilion
(Kinkaku-ji) right? Well I saw it! Such a fascinating building, and leafed in pure gold. I decided not to take a picture of it however, as I figured there were millions of other pictures floating around already. The memory will serve me quite well.
In 1950, the temple was burnt down by, as my friend Ron put it, "a deranged monk." It was rebuilt in 1955. There is apparently a
fictionalized telling of this story that I should like to read.
Today I visited the
Koto-In temple. And you know, as nice as the golden pavilion is, I do like the subdued beauty of a lot of these other temples. Had some delicious matcha too. Can't be beat :)
